Kinja'd!!!

It's a familiar feeling, but it needs to be dealt with nonetheless. The Furai burned in 2008. We just heard about it for the first time yesterday? Or did you all hear about it back in 2008 when my gearheaditude was in its infancy?

Only some Mazda people and their friends heard about it. Mazda mostly kept a lid on the incident.

Rumors were spreading back then that it had gone up in flames.

It was kept under wraps, according to the TG mag. Pretty damn good wraps, too...

Mazda urged TG to keep it quiet, but let them reveal the truth for their 20th anniversary issue.

I was at the Mazda museum in Hiroshima in 2009 where it had been kept previously and when I asked about it was told it'd been dismantled. Whether the people working there believed that or not I don't know, but I was gutted to hear it.

It's crazy how well they kept the secret.
